The Ordinary names the active and its percentage on the front of the bottle and leaves the
marketing off. That is the whole proposition, and it means you can see exactly what you are
buying. It also means the products are not cushioned the way a branded serum is, so introducing
one slowly and patch testing first matters more here than usual.

Who it suits
Oily and congestion-prone skin. Ten percent is a high dose, so if your skin is sensitive or new to niacinamide, start a few times a week.
How to use
- Apply a few drops to the whole face, morning and evening, before heavier creams.
- Follow with moisturiser, and sunscreen in the morning.
If you also use vitamin C, use them at opposite ends of the day, vitamin C in the evening and this in the morning, or the other way round. The brand advises against layering the two in one routine.
External use only. Not for broken or compromised skin.
