How to Spot Fake Skincare Products
Popular skincare is also widely copied. Fake products can look almost identical to the real thing, but they may not work as promised and can contain ingredients that irritate your skin. A few simple checks can help you avoid them.
1. Check the price
If a well-known product is selling for far below its usual price, be careful. A small discount is normal; a price that seems too good to be true usually is.
2. Look closely at the packaging
Compare the box and bottle with photos on the brand’s official website. Blurry printing, spelling mistakes, uneven fonts, different colours or poorly fitted caps are common signs of a fake.
3. Find the batch code and expiry date
Genuine products normally carry a batch or lot code, and often a manufacturing or expiry date, printed or stamped on the packaging. These should be clear and should match between the box and the product.
4. Check the seal
Many products come with a protective seal, sticker or shrink wrap. A missing or broken seal on a new product is a warning sign.
5. Trust your senses
If you already know a product, notice whether the texture, colour or scent is different from usual. A sudden change is worth questioning.
6. Buy from sellers you can trust
The safest option is to buy from a shop that is clear about what it sells and that you can contact easily. At Lureva we sell only authentic products, and you can message us on WhatsApp with any question about an item before you order.
If a product causes burning, swelling or a rash, stop using it and seek medical advice.
