A Simple 4-Step K-Beauty Routine for Beginners
Korean skincare is famous for long routines, but you do not need ten steps to see results. A consistent routine with four basic steps covers almost everything your skin needs, and you can add extras later.
Morning
- Cleanse: a gentle gel or foam cleanser, or just water if your skin is dry.
- Treat: one serum for your main concern, such as vitamin C for dullness or niacinamide for oiliness.
- Moisturise: a light gel cream such as the Purito Seoul Oat-in Calming Gel Cream works well in humid weather.
- Protect: sunscreen, every day. This is the most important step of the morning.
Evening
- Cleanse: if you wore sunscreen or makeup, double cleanse with an oil cleanser followed by a gentle cleanser.
- Tone (optional): a hydrating toner adds a light layer of moisture.
- Treat: your serum, or a calming ampoule if your skin feels irritated.
- Moisturise: a slightly richer cream at night, such as the Purito Seoul Mighty Bamboo Panthenol Cream, helps your skin recover while you sleep.
Tips for getting started
- Add one new product at a time, so you know what works for you.
- Patch test new products on a small area of skin first.
- Give a routine four to six weeks before judging the results.
- Consistency matters more than the number of products.
