What it is
A physical, or mineral, sunscreen. Instead of absorbing UV the way chemical filters do, zinc oxide
sits on the surface and reflects it. That makes mineral sunscreens the usual recommendation for
skin that reacts to chemical filters. AXIS-Y pairs the filter with mugwort and niacinamide, so the
formula also soothes and works on tone.
Protection
SPF50+ PA++++ — the highest common rating for both UVB and UVA.
What it is formulated to do
- Shield against UVA and UVB with a mineral filter
- Calm irritation and visible redness, with mugwort
- Brighten, with 2% niacinamide
- Hydrate, with squalane, so it does not dry the skin down

Who it suits
Sensitive and easily irritated skin, and anyone who prefers a mineral filter. Mineral sunscreens
leave more of a cast than chemical ones; this one is light, and it blends out, but a very deep
skin tone may still notice it. If that matters to you, a chemical sunscreen such as the Beauty of
Joseon Relief Sun will be invisible.
How to use
- Last step of your morning routine, after moisturiser.
- Use about two finger lengths for face and neck.
- Blend until the cast disappears, then let it set before makeup.
- Reapply every two to three hours outdoors.
Good to know about sunscreen
A sunscreen only gives the protection on the label if you use enough of it. For the face and
neck that is roughly two finger lengths, or about a quarter of a teaspoon for the face alone.
Reapply every two to three hours when you are outdoors, and sooner if you have been sweating or
swimming. Sunscreen is the last step of a morning routine, after moisturiser and before makeup.
Avoid the immediate eye area. Patch test first if your skin reacts easily.
