What it is
The cleanser in SKIN1004’s Madagascar Centella line. Centella asiatica extract is listed as about a third of the formula, and the cleansing itself is handled by four surfactants derived from coconut rather than sulfates. It is formulated at roughly pH 5, close to skin’s own, which is the reason it rinses clean without that tight after-feel.
What it is formulated to do
- Remove sebum, sunscreen and the day’s grime in the second cleanse
- Leave the barrier intact rather than stripped
- Calm the look of redness with centella
- Rinse off completely, with no film
Key ingredients
- Centella asiatica extract, listed at about 33%
- Sodium cocoyl isethionate, sodium methyl cocoyl taurate and coco-betaine, the coconut-derived surfactants
- Glycerin and sodium hyaluronate for water
- Sodium bicarbonate, a fine soda powder that helps lift sebum
- Coptis chinensis root extract
Who it suits
All skin types, including sensitive. Oily and combination skin get the most out of it, since it clears sebum without triggering the rebound oiliness a harsh cleanser causes.
How to use
- Wet your hands and face.
- Squeeze an appropriate amount into wet palms and work it into a lather.
- Massage over the face, avoiding the eyes.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, then continue with toner.
Suitable morning and evening. In the evening, use it after an oil cleanser if you wear sunscreen or makeup.
