What it is
One of the longest-selling cleansers in Korean skincare, and the product most people meet The
Face Shop through. It is a traditional foaming cleanser: a small amount of cream that turns into a
thick, cushiony lather in wet hands. Rice water does the work on brightness; soapwort extract keeps
the cleansing itself from being harsh.
What it is formulated to do
- Remove daily grime, sweat and excess oil
- Leave the skin clean but not stripped
- Brighten the look of a dull complexion over time, from rice water
- Prepare the skin for the rest of your routine
Key ingredients
- Rice water and rice extract — the brightening base, carrying vitamins and amino acids
- Soapwort extract — a plant cleansing agent
- Rice bran oil and glycerin — so the formula does not strip
Which size to pick
The 100 ml tube is the easier one to travel with and a sensible way to try the
cleanser first. The 150 ml tube is the standard size and better value if you
already know you like it. Both are the same formula.
Who it suits
Normal, combination and oily skin. If your skin is very dry or you use a foaming cleanser only at
night, follow it with a toner and moisturiser straight away.
How to use
- Tie your hair back and wet your face with lukewarm water.
- Squeeze a small amount into wet hands and work it into a lather first.
- Massage onto the face in circles, avoiding the eye area.
- Rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water and pat dry.
Morning and evening, or evening only if your skin is on the dry side. If you wear makeup or
sunscreen, use an oil or balm cleanser first and this one second.
Good to know
This formula contains fragrance. If your skin reacts to fragranced cleansers, patch test on the
jawline before using it on the whole face.
