What it is
COSRX’s best known cleanser, and the reason “low pH” entered everyday skincare vocabulary. Most foaming cleansers are alkaline, which strips the acid mantle and leaves skin tight. This one is formulated at roughly pH 5 to 6, close to healthy skin, so it cleans and leaves the barrier where it was. This is the 50ml travel size.
What it is formulated to do
- Clean without disturbing the skin’s natural acidity
- Keep pores clear with a gentle BHA
- Leave skin comfortable rather than tight
- Work as a morning cleanse, or the second step of an evening double cleanse
Key ingredients
- Betaine salicylate, a mild BHA
- Tea tree leaf oil (Melaleuca alternifolia)
- Cocamidopropyl betaine and sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate, gentle surfactants
Who it suits
Most skin types, particularly skin that finds ordinary foaming cleansers harsh. Two cautions: anyone with an aspirin allergy should avoid betaine salicylate, and third-party ingredient checkers flag it as not malassezia-safe if you are managing fungal acne.
How to use
- Wet your hands and face.
- Squeeze out a small amount and work it into a lather.
- Massage over the face, avoiding the eyes and mouth.
- Rinse with lukewarm water.
Morning and evening. In the evening, use it after an oil cleanser.
